Toward a Unified Theory for Consciousness ?

Abstract

I think, therefore I am or I am therfore I think ? Our modern occidental society is grounded in the first assumption to understand the deepest part of our being : consciousness. In contrary, eastern tradition grounds the foundation of existence in the second assumption. In order to approach a unified paradigm around consciousness, we need to take the time to choose between the two philosophical standpoints. The first standpoint underlies that a turn-on brain activity generates consciousness and the meta-cognition proper to a human being. In the second oriental based hypothesis, consciousness is primary and a turn-on brain is a constrain for consciousness. In this paper, the main purpose is to propose an experimental orientation for consciousness based upon the second assumption. The theoretical approach will encompass different possibilities to explain how consciousness is related to brain activity but also why it is not directly linked to slow processes such as chemical processes, otherwise it could be linked to a higher degree of information integration in the waves processes such as interferences, resonance and synchrony, illustrated by cymatic imagery. In this case, consciousness could be linked to high integrative states in between different planes such as the linear / temporal plane and also, the spectral / non-linear plane called hilbert spaces. The missing gap in between the two “expressions” of consciousness could be what is currently known as “cymatic” which represents a holographic storage process of informations inside the harmonic patterns of brain waves interferences. We live in a world of waves and frequencies where informations are stored, moreover, no information is lost in the transformation of energetic movments in nature, how consciousness might be different ? “ Nothing is lost, nothing is created, everything is transformed “ This quote coming from the chemist Antoine Lavoisier refers to the chemical aspects and the linear processes occuring in nature. If we make a step further and take consciousness as primordial, we could say that : nothing is lost, everything is created and the transformation is illusory regarding consciousness because all the informations could be stored in a higher timeless plane called a spectral/hilbert multidimensional plane akin to the unified space-memory network (Haramein et al., 2016). How could it work ? This article will try to respond to the question.

Introduction

The study of consciousness is one of the most sensitive and complex subjects ever considered by science. Indeed, how to understand our own percepts and our way to see the world? Where does consciousness begin? To what extent can we understand this phenomenon by means of the fields of neuroscience and psychophysics? How to establish a philosophy that comes closest to what can be accepted as a encompassing hypothesis? And how would this epistemology make it possible to define a scientific paradigm which would finally consider consciousness in its totality (holos). There is a list of the most sensitive or even taboo subjects in science. Among the 125 questions listed by degree of importance, the question of the biological origin of consciousness takes the second place (Van Lommel, P., 2010). This position could be primarily understood because we have no evidence that consciousness originates in the brain. This is why it is possible to open the fields of investigation not only in terms of philosophical and epistemic hypotheses but especially in terms of experimental science.

               Consciousness is the phenomenon that we are most familiar with and that we understand the least. To comprehend this phenomenon, it is interesting to define its opposite: unconsciousness, corresponding to the fact of being disconnected from one’s percepts and from the feeling of continuity inherent in the state of consciousness. In addition, consciousness corresponds mainly to the fact of being able to take a step back from a spontaneous (instinct) but non-reflexive experience. Indeed, awareness involves metacognitive processes that make it possible to become aware of an external as well as an internal world.               A scientific certainty concerning “waking” consciousness is that it intrinsically depends somewhat on the organization of the brain. In fact, it is enough to modify genetic information to no longer perceive colors in an normal manner. The perception of colors depends mainly on the precise transmission and decoding of information in the brain. Indeed, the sensitivity of three categories of cones (blue, green and red) to different wavelengths makes it possible to initiate the transduction of electrochemical information to the primary visual cortex. Thus, we are essentially talking about coding and decoding information depending mainly on our senses and our brain. However, the world would not appear the same if one were inside the primitive brain of a snail. Indeed, if we quickly move a sheet in front of a snail, it will certainly not have the opportunity to perceive a slight change in its environment, mainly because it will not have time to decode the environmental change since the organization of his brain does not allow it. By analogy, we understand that our own perception of reality is not necessarily “reality”. In the clinical case of a person affected at the level of the retino-cortical projections or the right striated cortex, disturbances at the level of visual perception will appear in the left hemi-field. Indeed, the person will not be able to read a book because part of the book will simply have disappeared as well as certain perceptual information allowing the understanding of the story. We then understand that the concepts of perception and information or, more precisely, transmission and coding of information are analogous and complementary. Furthermore, without information there is no perception, and without perception there is no elaboration of a conscious state. We thus simply create the world that we perceive by means of our brain or, more accurately, by the mean of information integration within the electromagnetic patterns around the brain and maybe, around the whole body.

Biocentrism

Biocentrism is a 21st century philosophical theory established by Dr. Robert Lanza (1956- ) (Lanza, R., 2009). The philosopher put forward the laws of quantum physics and, more specifically, the double slit experiments to support the fundamental principles of biocentrism. He was particularly inspired by the Copenhagen interpretation of the paradoxes of quantum physics. Indeed, the Einstein-Bohr experiment or double slit experiment somehow contradicting the theory of general relativity finalized by Albert Einstein (1879-1955). Indeed, this contradiction is better known under the name of the Einstein-Rosen-Podolsky (EPR) paradox opposes particularities of quantum physics to classical physics by not respecting axioms of relativity. In addition, subatomic particles seem to “communicate” instantaneously with each other despite the distance that separates them in space-time.   The entirely revolutionary philosophy of biocentrism can open a new scientific and conceptual path to grasp consciousness, its singularity and its place in the universe. It is essential to move back and forth between the strictly scientific positivist paradigm and the paradigmatic openings brought about by biocentric philosophy in order to undertake a holistic understanding of the phenomenon of consciousness.

To fully understand the seven axioms proposed by Robert Lanza, it is necessary to follow his reasoning. The biocentric philosophy positions consciousness from the point of view of the animal or the human being to understand the universe as, not, an independent matrix of its observer but rather a world created by its observer. The universe is in the head of the observer who, by analogy of “natural processor” (the brain) will share this vision of the universe with the living beings of his species. To accept this radically different vision because it is incompatible with our most fundamental conceptions, it is necessary to look at two physical status quo that make up our worldview. First, it is about time and, secondarily, about space.

    What is Time ? The mathematical equations allowing to describe the physical phenomena generally apply under two forms: the first allowing to describe the phenomenon including a temporality and, the second describing the phenomenon without the time. Thus, the gaze posed on nature depends essentially on the presence or absence of time at the level of the field of physics. The fundamental question to ask is whether time can be described as a substantial element having a fundamental and irreducible external existence? The biocentric point of view brings about a radical change in the concept of time as we conceive it (as seconds, minutes, hours, and days). He defines time as a projection of internal processes allowing the characterization of external elements such as movement and the perception of the continuity of events. However, physics defines time as a conceptual addition to basic formulas that do not strictly require time. Thus, time is conceptually linked to the principle of change and therefore operates when physicists describe a function, a change. The fundamental essence of time is therefore change.

The biocentrism perspective defines time as a biological creation of evolution allowing the brain and its processes to order themselves and to perceive the experience of change within internal brain processes (image x appears before image y). Thus, starting from this perspective, time represents an internal component (biological illusion) in the animal allowing it to perceive animated events. By analogy, the brain can be compared to a projector that animates images. When the projector is paused, images are frozen. To see the film, it is necessary to turn on the projector (cerebral dynamics) which will scroll through a series of images very quickly until we only perceive continuity and no longer separate images. The same type of process operates in the brain or the mind which will animate the world and events, thus creating the concept of time to its measure. Werner Heisenberg (1901-1976), pioneer of quantum physics, defines the position in space as belonging to the external world and the moment (momentum) as belonging to the internal world. By entering the world of quantum physics, we observe that the notion of time is not part of the bases of reality. Heisenberg clearly defines that: “experiments in quantum physics bring back to the center of scientific interest, the opportunity to understand the world through mental processes”. Biocentrism thus defines a new reality independent of time.

What is Space ?

Space is commonly thought of as a concrete physical environment that governs our daily lives. It is possible to measure space in three dimensions through various well-established units, which gives even more credence to the conventional view of space. However, the atypical point of view offered by biocentrism again diverges from common sense by looking more closely at the very essence of space and its relative value. As living beings, we are naturally accustomed to considering space as an exteriority allowing us to evolve (within this space itself, we can move). The fact of thinking of carrying out actions inside a delimited space confers an exteriority to this space. However, in the biocentric vision, space just like time has a conceptual reality. The two concepts are essentially formed through the subjective perception that emerges from our “brain”. Thus, it is clearly possible to understand, through the cerebral processing of spatial information, what processes underlie the perception of objects (constructed by the brain) in space. In addition, the mind or consciousness integrates information according to a precise cerebral conditioning defining the objects according to their particularities (similarities, differences) as well as according to the phylogenetic development (specific to the species) of the five senses, specific characteristics of the sensory afferents and of the cerebral cortex (decisive center of integration). Robert Lanza describes precisely that objects and space are concomitant as well as interdependent in the creation of a holistic cognition of a phenomenon (wholeness of the phenomenon). Thus, the distance essentially allowing to characterize the space is again an abstract concept perceived by our brain which will thus be able to segment the space in three dimensions by integrating the objects there as separate elements.               Albert Einstein is best known for his general theory of relativity which scientifically demonstrates that neither space nor time are constants and therefore have no absolute value. Thus, the frame of reference (physical variables) will vary space and time. Robert Lanza gives a blatant example of the modulation of time and space. If we could travel at 99% of the speed of light, a six square meter room would appear to us as a one square meter micro room. Moreover, time would pass entirely differently if we could live in a megastructure deployed around the sun. Time would pass more slowly because the sun has a higher mass than the earth and therefore bends space-time. Thus, time and space have relative values.                Moreover, the discoveries in quantum physics make it possible to clarify the fact that the real phenomena appear simultaneously and correlatively with the act of observation or awareness of the object (subatomic particles, micromolecules see quantum macro-system such as a condensate of Bose-Einstein). As a result, the observer thus plays a fundamental role in the creation of the reality he perceives.                Thus, space in the vision of biocentrism represents a projection of our own mind that allows to organize the experience of reality in three dimensions.

The Seven Axioms In Biocentrism

  1. What we perceive as reality is a process involving our consciousness. “External” reality, if it exists, would by definition be located in space. However, this does not make sense because space and time are not absolute realities but rather analogous or relative to the animal and human mind. (1)

 

  1. Our external and internal perceptions are inextricably intertwined. They represent different sides of the same coin and cannot be separated. (2)

c.      The behavior of subatomic particles including all particles that make up objects is inextricably linked to the presence of the observer. Without the presence of a conscious observer, they are at best in an indeterminate state of probability waves. (3) d.     Without consciousness, matter resides in an indeterminate state of probability. Any type of universe that preceded consciousness exists only in a state of probability. (4)   e.      The structure of the universe is explicable only by means of biocentrism. The universe is made for life, which makes sense because it is life that creates the universe and not the other way around. The universe is simply a logical space-time arrangement created by the “self”. (5) f.      Time has no real existence outside the animal’s perception. It represents a process by which we perceive changes in the universe. (6) g.     Space, like time, does not represent an object or a thing. Space is an element that emanates from our perceptual abilities and has no reality of its own. We take space and time with us like a turtle its shell. However, there is no absolute matrix of existence in which every physical event appears independent of life. (7)

It is necessary to delimit a clear philosophical direction to understand the experimental hypotheses that will be presented in the following chapters. Biocentrism is one of the most adequate philosophies according to the NAMSCA experimental project, introduced in the final chapter.

The Hard Problem, Brain-Mind Relationship in The View of John Eccles

John Eccles offers a theory for the connection between body and mind. He suggests that the interaction between the brain and consciousness is at the level of quantum mechanics (Eccles, J.C., 1992). Indeed, the transition between world 1 (brain) and world 2 (mental) does not derogate from the laws of conservation defining that in an isolated system, the total energy remains invariant over time (nothing is lost, everything transforms). At a more localizationist level, the connection between the material authority (brain) and the spiritual authority (consciousness) should take place at the level of the cerebral cortex and more precisely, at the level of the cortico-cerebral columns which receive an enormous quantity of energy inputs (information). Indeed, according to the scientist, synaptic activity in the brain depends on elementary particles (ions) that fall within the quantum dimensions conducive to Heisenberg’s uncertainty principle. John Eccles idea was to answer the questions of when and where consciousness arose. Therefore, he defines consciousness as a phenomenon directly related to the primitive development of the cortex in mammals. However, he notably hypothesizes that birds could experience a form of consciousness thanks to the hyperpallium (The Wulst) which receives lemnothalamic projections. The particularity of these two brain areas is the fact that they serve as complex centers of information integration. Concerning animals (mammals and birds), it is possible to infer properties such as feelings, emotions, attachment by means of the observation of behavioral manifestations. However, the spontaneous sharing of the experience of consciousness can only take place between human beings by means of language allowing to intellectualize the sensitive experience and to put it into words.               Concerning the precise localization of the hypothetical link between the brain and the mind, J. Eccles focuses his attention on the “ultramicroproperties” of the brain where quantum physics could play a significant role. Accordingly, he focuses his work on the secretion from presynaptic vesicles which allow neurotransmitters to transmit information in the brain. Indeed, the probabilistic control of vesicle secretion could be subject to the laws of quantum physics. More specifically, the scientist looked at the apical dendrites in the pyramidal cells (cortico-cerebral columns) which represent privileged integration centers (thousands of synapses clustered as input at this level, which is equivalent to a very large amount of information). J. Eccles describes a superposition of apical dendrites which form what he calls a dendron. The fundamental aspects emerge from the theory of John Eccles: a.      Consciousness is linked somehow to the neocortex and to the apical dendrites as “processors”.b.     There is a potential connection between quantum mechanics and the brain.

In search of A Research Hypothesis

In the viewpoint of David Chalmers, the pattern of information processing seems to modulate or even constrains conscious experience (Chalmers, D.J., 1996).  Later, we will see that this hypothesis is corroborated by some experimental outcomes. Dr Pim Van Lommel, pioneer physician in near-death experiences (NDE), stipulates that in the brain, the complexity of neural networks including processes of integration (cooperation) and differentiation (reciprocal heterogeneities) ultimately result in electromagnetic activity or electromagnetic fields (Van Lommel, P., 2010). Van Lommel highlights, in his book, experiments in neurology with electrical or magnetic stimulation. So, magnetic stimulation disturbs the activity of electromagnetic fields in the brain and, at the same time, can potentially modify the functions or states of consciousness related to the underlying cerebral structures. Atypical bodily experiences appear following the stimulations (forgotten memories “recovered” or autoscopy (differentiated body perception).               Therefore, the informational complex that takes place in the brain and results in electromagnetic fields defines an additional element that brings us closer, little by little, to a research hypothesis. This complex can be understood from the angle of a holographic projection from the brain. For instance, several avenues in neuroscience research suggest that memory is not located or localized in a specific center of the brain but that it unfolds in the form of a hologram. We will see this hypothesis in detail to clarify some new experiments that cast doubt on the functioning of our consciousness from a materialist point of view. For example, cases of hydrocephalus where most of the brain is drowned and ineffective without altering the cognitive functions of these survivors of the disease (Van Lommel, P., 2010).               As David Chalmers pointed out, to broaden a research paradigm and offer a new perspective on a phenomenon, an additional ingredient must be defined. This cognitive neuroscientist proposed the hypothesis of a double aspect of information which, in my opinion, is extremely broad and not very observable at the scientific level. This principle is however considered implicit in the case of research in robotics and in the transhumanist current defining consciousness as a simple emergent property of complexity.               Here and in the continuity of the scientific investigation of conscious phenomena, I propose to start with another additional ingredient which will be actively sought in the theories of electromagnetic waves and quantum physics. Or rather, in the correlations between the brain and the particularities of this physics fervently defended by Niels Bohr (1885-1962) and Werner Karl Heisenberg (1901-1976). It is certain that quantum phenomena manifest themselves in the brain in one way or another (at the micro, macroscopic level or both levels). The “intuition” of a correlation between a phenomenology of consciousness and quantum physics does not depend solely on the fact of linking two still misunderstood phenomena in the hope of finding an answer by trial and error. Quantum physics has components that could be analogous to consciousness which undeniably represents a state of integration and stability to a very high degree. In addition, several experiments are gently beginning to clarify this link, which will have to be proven through science, interdisciplinarity and open-mindedness. The holographic perspective must be paired with quantum mechanics as well as the principles of electromagnetic fields to glimpse how information could be encoded in the brain and how the close relationship between informational valence and conscious phenomena is emerging. It is therefore necessary to consider, in the first place, the scientific hypothesis of the holonomic (holographic) vision of consciousness, memory and so-called higher cognitive functions, specifying what a “hologram” or cerebral holoscope means and how this principle works and then, what are the leads to see the evidence going in the direction of the holographic principles. It will then be essential to consider the possibility of “quantum phenomena” in the brain by means of scientific experiments supporting a holistic principle of consciousness which is not limited solely to the principles of causality specific to the macroscopic universe. The holographic perspective offers an opportunity to consider memory and consciousness from a new angle that is closely related to quantum physics.  

The Holonomic Brain Perspective

The holonomic vision of the brain is etymologically linked to a holistic vision (holo = the whole) and naturalist (nomic = the general force of natural laws). From a theoretical point of view, the theory investigated by Dr Karl Pribram integrates the holographic perspective of consciousness which represents the informational projection of the percept (or perception = vision, hearing, etc.) “outside of” its computational location (space-time). In this perspective, the hologram would be “located” at the level of the interference patterns of the waves (re)constructed by the microprocesses at the level of the dendrite networks of the neocortex. The hologram represents the spectral component of the information and is outside space-time. Secondly, the holonomic standpoint incorporates what Dr. Karl Pribram calls anatomical constraints that are arranged in a specific way in a defined space-time (afferences from the physical senses) (Pribram, K. H., 2011).               There is a complex geometric space which makes it possible to represent the two matrices of information which is called the phase space or the Hilbert space. Hilbert space or phase spaces make it possible to represent information by including an imaginary axis and therefore, an imaginary time. In summary, information is represented in the form of frequencies, amplitudes, and phases in a hologram (without temporal dimension) but also in the form of space-time matrix: a Hilbert space therefore represents a representation of orthogonality between the spectral dimensions and the spatio-temporal dimensions. It allows the junction between two worlds or two related informational fields. This Hilbert space is particularly interesting because it links a timeless dimensional space (holographic representations of information) with a space-time. In this sense, it joins what the Bodganov brothers called the KMS state corresponding to the relations between the state of equilibrium of the system (out of time) and the transformations of this same system over time. Two metrics are used to represent the KMS state at the Planck scale, the first is a Lorentzian metric of space-time type (+++-) and the second metric is of Euclidean type (space-space) (++++). Thus, in the complex space like the phase space seen previously, we can speak of a superimposed or orthogonal metric between a real time value (-) and an imaginary time value (+).                The anchor of the holonomic view of consciousness comes essentially from the fact that two types of processes characterize our way of processing information and therefore our “reality”. First, a distributed and holistic process and second, a localized and functional process. However, more and more data suggest that the complex consciousness of the human being is more largely dependent on the distributed and holistic (holographic) aspect of information. We currently know that the more the number of neuroanatomical constraints increases (eg in a state of advanced coma), the less consciousness is developed (Demertzi et al., 2019). It suggests that a higher state of consciousness (higher cognitions) like that of the human being depends mainly on a high number of neuroanatomical degrees of freedom. Interestingly, the neocortex that allows humans (and other animal species) to have meta-cognition has fewer neuroanatomical constraints such as, for example, tracts (axonal white matter).   The question one might ask could be: what underlying psychophysical processes would be most likely to enable a highly complex degree of information integration?                First, it is essential to realize that there is no spatial-temporal (geometric) isomorphism between cortical activity and environmental stimuli or scenes. The relationship is more of a transformaional and paralinear type (Pribram, K. H., 2011). Thus, the holonomic perspective highlights the possibility that perception is constructed (construction of configurational properties of objects) in a holographic form. This aspect would make it possible to integrate all the information coming from the environment but also from interoception in a uniform and multi-relational informational field. Thus, as mentioned above, the construction of the hologram from the brain would take place thanks to the interference patterns (matrix) of the waves localized at the level of the neocortex. In this specific context, the sensory receptors would play the role of natural “eye” lenses.                 Operationally, there would exist in the brain a multidimensional processor or space like a hologram which would serve as a zone of reference for each conscious external changes. This holographic space, Hilbert or phase space would represent a very high degree of integration of information and therefore should be initiated by a complex computational process and therefore underpinned by a network of interconnected neurons such as the dendro-dendritic junctions of the neocortex. These microprocesses located at the level of the neocortex would aim to create a cross-correlational or intercorrelational phenomenon between the different nerve impulses coming from the axons. It is interesting to note that the activity of the neocortical dendro-dendritic junctions is correlated with the state of consciousness (levels of conscious states). This is consistent with studies showing that the state of consciousness is not directly related to neuroanatomical constraints but rather is related to large-scale (whole brain) resonance and synchronization patterns.                The holonomic perspective of consciousness is mainly based on the fact that cortical neurons behave more like “Fourier analyzers” than line detectors (spatio-temporality) and therefore, analyze more precisely the waves arriving at the level of the neocortex by projecting the information into a multidimensional space such as a hologram (at the spectral level, energy density, spectral coherence indices, unconstrained Fourier complex, Hilbert or phase spaces).               To compare and analyze the different waves arriving at the neocortex, the dendro-dendritic networks could use what are called Fourier coefficients representing ratios between the phase (therefore frequency) differences of the various signals arriving at the brain. These ratios would then be used to represent information in a multidimensional (holographic) spectral space represented by what Dr Karl Pribram called spatial frequencies (mainly seen through what is known as cymatics or fractalization). Partially directed coherence (PDC) matrices will make it possible to analyze these relationships (ratio) in the frequency (spectral) domain. Thus, the information would be “projected outside” its place of processing (brain) in the form of a hologram, which forms the holistic perception of what we call “reality”. It is important to remember that this multidimensional space is a relational space in the sense that the Fourier coefficients represent mathematical relationships between different waves or oscillations arriving at the brain. However, this spectral dimension could constitute the center of integration of information and therefore our reality or perception of reality as human beings. To summarize, the holographic space is created by means of a process called Fourier transformations, this process will make it possible to illustrate the information in the form of a phase or frequency ratio between different signals arriving in the brain. In this specific case, the time and space information are condensed into the spectral information. On the other hand, there is a linearity in the processing of sensory information, which represents an important element for what is called neuroanatomical constraints (or axonal tracts which relay information).               As seen previously, the phase space or Hilbert space makes it possible to integrate in a unified space the spatio-temporal elements and the spectral elements in a relationship of orthogonality. This orthogonality relationship defines a form of separation between two different dimensions. We have seen that spectral information has no time axis and therefore is out of time (++++) while spatio-temporal information evolves in a precise space-time (+++-). In the same vein, the holographic or spectral space would represent a dimension, out of time (++++) where all the holographic information (ratios between the Fourier coefficients) exists simultaneously.                 It is essential to keep in mind that the hologram is based on a comparison of the different phases (unconstrained Fourier coefficients matrix) and therefore frequencies of the oscillations arriving in the brain. As we will see in the experimental chapter (The NAMSCA project), phase synchronization will be one of the most important tools for defining whether a remote connection between two brains is trackable. Thus, these phase synchronizations could represent an intersecting or sharing of holographic or quantum information between two individuals at a distance.               To summarize, the spectral counterpart of the information which can be visualized in the form of a hologram comprising different Fourier coefficients which contain in themselves information related to the phase and the frequency power. It is maybe in between the spectral (energy density) and the linear processes that consciousness manifests itself as time-consciousness or “space-consciousness” which might encompass psychic phenomena (PSI phenomena). A state of resonance or cymatics might be the linkage point.  

The Integral Perspective of Consciousness and Energy 

The integral relativity perspective of consciousness and energy is an extension of Albert Einstein’s general relativity equations, incorporating the component of consciousness (Neale, L., 2016). The theory is also based on the multidimensional complex or Hilbert spaces. Indeed, Integral relativity is based on “The Observer Effect” within the framework of the double slit experiment in quantum physics. This particular and significant effect shows that the intention of the observer will trigger the collapse of the wave function and impact the “materialization” or manifestation of a particle at a specific location. In this perspective of consciousness, multidimensionality is the anchor. It is centered around two main elements: the holarchic structuring (Hilbert spaces) as well as the complex model of the eight dimensions of Minkowsky space.                 The theoretical extension of the perspective of integral relativity is to understand the matter-energy continuum (e = mc2) in the state of consciousness. Thus, energy is consciousness in motion [synergy] (1), consciousness is conserved (2), there would exist a continuum between consciousness, energy, mind and matter thanks to the cosmological constant (primordial cosmic vibration) (3) and finally, energy and consciousness co-evolve through Hilbert spaces (frequency or spectral domains) according to their specific frequency indices (4).               The integral model of consciousness (based on Elizabeth Rauscher’s complex eight-dimensional Minkowski model) is broken down into eight quadrants, four quadrants defining space-time or the physical world (+++-) and four quadrants defining the subtle or non-local world (++++).  Thus, a photon is located at the same time in two “domains”, a spatio-temporal domain (space-time) and a spectral domain (consciousness space), akin to the holonomic brain theory.               Within the framework of integral relativity, consciousness is a negentropic principle initiating all action or energy. By extension, any type of energetic phenomenon is correlated to a state of consciousness. A low frequency being linked to a basic consciousness, animal or vegetable also called “proto-consciousness” while a high frequency being linked to a high state of consciousness (non-dual).               In this perspective, the term “awareness” (meaning in truth) brings together different experiential states such as sensory consciousness, mental consciousness, general consciousness, “witness” consciousness and observative or “who knows” consciousness. In the framework of a theory of unified consciousness, the energy density might represent the factor x of the natural exponential equation going from a space of duality towards a space of unity. The four axioms of the integral theory of relativity are :   1. The energy equation (e = mc2) is intimately linked to the state of consciousness. Awareness represents the latent potential of energy, energy being the motor or kinesics action potential of consciousness. Energy thus allows consciousness to move in space-time (+++-). Consciousness linked to energy (consciousness in movement in space-time) allows the collapse of the wave function (Ψ).  2. The state of conservation and therefore of continuity of consciousness. The law of conservation of energy can be extended thanks to the first axiom, the principle of consciousness. Thus, just like energy, consciousness cannot be created or destroyed but only transformed, within the framework of space-time or space of duality (+++-).  3. A continuum between consciousness, energy, mind and matter exists via the cosmological constant. The cosmological constant representing the primordial frequency “carrier wave” or energy carrier wave which also represents the primordial consciousness “supreme Knower”. In reference to the principles of quantum physics, the higher the frequency, the greater the information contained (encoding capacity). Thus, the more the frequency increases (high velocity), the more the energy is “free” and therefore, the more the information contained is broad and integrated via the principle of quantum resonance. This point will be developed later.  4. The principle of integral relativity between the observer (inner) and the observed (outer) representing specific spectral domains (Hilbert Spaces). Thus, the perception of any observed phenomenon is relative to the observer’s frequency (state of consciousness) of the phenomenon itself. This joins the principle of the co-creation of reality in the space of perception (biocentric principle). So, the characteristics of waves or carrier waves (containing information) such as brain waves gather in themselves the link that allows the correlation between energy and consciousness. Consciousness makes it possible, in a way, to structure energy into information. Depending on the vehicle that consciousness uses in terms of “vibration rate” intimately linked to the frequency of the carrier wave, the amount of information and therefore consciousness is greater and therefore, by extension, the quantum resonance between the inside and outside (mind conceptual delimitation) is higher.                 We thus arrive at the essential hypothesis of Hilbert spaces which are accessible as a function of the frequency of the observer. Perception therefore becomes a differential function of the relative frequency (vibratory rate) of the observer. Thus, all reality depends on the relative ratio between the frequency of the observer and the observed evolving in distinct dimensional spaces (Hilbert spaces or spectral domains). To sum up, the creation of reality is not relative only to the space of duality and therefore, to external sensory inputs but to the frequency relationship between the object in question and the vibratory rate of the individual. By extension, in the case of psychic phenomena (PSI) the vision of a soul or a being of light can be understood within the theoretical framework presented here. Indeed, the vision of the soul or the being of light is only possible when the vibratory rate of the individual (psychic) is high enough to enter a field of resonance (Hilbert space / dimensional) adapted to the soul or being of light perceived.               This principle can be revisited in the context of the Doppler effect investigated by Albert Einstein, who proposed a principle of time dilation according to the velocity of the vehicle (train). Time passing more slowly on the train than on the train platform. Thus, at the speed of light, time should stop. However, from a different angle, physicists have proposed that there is no time dilation but rather an increase in the duration of the event that can be understood through the general increase in energy density around the accelerating observer.                 This phenomenon would join the illusory or extremely relative principle of time which is, ultimately, only a way of perceiving a sequence between events, depending on the state of consciousness of the person (biocentric principle). You will see that under a Unified Theory of Consciousness hypothesis, this reversal of perspective is fundamental in the sense that wavelength and quantum resonance are directly related to the amount of energy available (energy density) in the observer-observed relationship and therefore, in the evolution from a space of duality (+++-) to a space of unity (++++).               Indeed, what determines the relative space of perception (reality) depends on the function integrating the observer (Subject) and the observed (Object), evolving through the variable energy density linked to the quantum vacuum. This varying energy density surrounding the Subject and the Object determines the dimensional space (Hilbert Space) where the Subject and the Object meet, which creates the reality of the Subject. Reality is therefore fundamentally specific to the vibratory rate of the Subject.                 Hilbert’s spaces bring together different areas of expression of different states of consciousness such as concrete space (physical or temporal consciousness), causal space (or memory space / akashic field) or subtle space. The main point concerns the evolution of the different domains in the form of a holarchy or integrated spaces, interlocking with each other and not a hierarchy. Additionally, the resonance of the consciousness vehicle with the dimensional space in question determines the state of consciousness. There would therefore exist a continuous dynamic of consciousness and energy through the multi-dimensional Hilbert spaces. In this specific theory, it is the attentional instance or consciousness that will determine the potential for energy, enaction and therefore perception in Hilbert’s spaces.               We will see in the chapter concerning psychic phenomena (PSI) that the attention of the observer influences the results of the psychophysical experiment of the double slit with a statistical threshold of significance at height sigma 6 (1 out of 1 billion than the results are due to chance). Thus, there could be an underlying principle of quantum resonance between the information-carrying waves around the observer (energy field) and the projected photon wave as part of the double slit experiment. This principle of quantum resonance gives a first proof of the link consciousness (attention of the observer) and energy inside the wave.  It is essential to look at the components of the waves to understand how the information could be encoded and transmitted between the non-local space (++++) and the local space (+++-). Doctor Lex Neale offers a perspective for encoding information via three main components of the wave: 1. Amplitude. 2. Frequency. 3. Polarity or Spin.                We will see that these three instances are fundamental regarding the phenomenon of quantum entanglement or the Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen (EPR) paradox. As proposed by the NAMSCA project, it might be possible to analyze the EPR paradox in the brain through partially coherence indices (specific link with spectral density, amplitude) as well as phase synchronization indices (specific link with frequency and polarity). Moreover, the transmission of information between the non-local space (+++) and the local space (+++-) could be carried out thanks to the EPR paradox (quantum entanglement) as a toroidal informational vortex (torus) around the whole body, as an experimental hypothesis.

The Unified Space-Memory Network Perspective

As part of the perspective of the unified memory-space network proposed by Dr Nassim Haramein and Dr Wiliam Brown, we must look at the physical predictions of Doctor Nassim Haramein regarding the nuclear subatomic structure of protons as well as that of electrons including their respective masses (Haramein et al., 2016). In addition, there is a quantum oscillatory state at the level of the Planck scale where time fluctuates and becomes complex: fluctuations between the state of equilibrium or “space-consciousness” determined by the Euclidean metric (++++) and the temporality, space-time determined by the Lorentzian metric (+++-). This state is also called the superposition state of the two metrics or the KMS state (Bogdanov, G & I., 2010), when we approach the singularity. Time therefore becomes complex at the Planck scale (10-33cm). It is fundamental to understand the bases of the theoretical approach of the physicist Dr Nassim Haramein who conceptualizes the structure of the vacuum (geometric structure) at the Planck scale. Indeed, by quantifying space at the Planck scale (KMS state), the calculations allow thanks to the Planck microspheres (also called Planck units) to understand quantum gravity but also to estimate the physical parameters of all elements of the periodic table. We are talking here, precisely, of a fabric of wormholes (in a state of quantum fluctuations between space-time (+++-) and space-consciousness (++++)) which would allow to transfer non-local information by way of feedback. The holonomic brain perspective aligns with the unified space-memory network by answering the question how it might work (through brain waves patterns such as interferences or synchrony (cymatics)). The physical principles of the space-memory network perspective would make it possible to better understand the principle of negentropy of the living, which is not governed by chance or the principle of trial and error but by the principle of quantum biofeedback. This informational potential for nonlocal communication across the spatial and temporal realms closely resembles the “akashic field” sometimes called the vacuum in the ancient Buddhist tradition.               It is fundamental to understand that in this perspective, the oscillators of the quantum vacuum (Planck microspheres) allow the structural organization of space-time and thus, structures the elementary particles at the level of their “horizon”, akin to a black hole. Thus, there would exist a precise relationship between the surface of the elementary particle and its volume. The elementary particle is considered, in this perspective, as a mini black hole.  So, due to the holographic nature of elementary particles, all the information of the cosmos could be encoded in each elementary particle.  Concerning the extremely elaborate and precursory perspective of Nassim Haramein, two fundamental principles should be retained :

1. There would exist an information network called the “quantum vacuum” which, thanks to the geometric structure at the Planck scale, would make it possible to exchange nonlocal information and therefore, by way of feedback, to allow life to evolve, learn and move towards order by the principle of negentropy. 2. This network might be characterized by the holographic principles and, by the quantum oscillations of the KMS state including the fluctuation of the temporal dimension between a real value (-) and imaginary/spatial (+). This fluctuation is therefore understood by a constant exchange between space-time (+++-) and what I called space-consciousness (++++). He could therefore compose what the ancients called the “akashic field” which gathers all the information of the past, the present and the future. We will see in the next chapter that certain psychic phenomena (PSI) can be categorized as nonlocal perception, which could well involve the theoretical ground of the space-memory network proposed by the physicist Nassim Haramein.                The last fundamental point concerns the density-energy ratio within the framework of the vision of the sphere. Moreover, the density-energy ratio seems dependent on parameters such as wavelength (1) and quantum resonance (2). Thus, the link between the structure of the vacuum (space-memory) and the dense body (protons, electrons, human being) could be made at the level of “the informational horizon of the human complex” potentially represented by the energy field. This energy field could have the same geometric structure as the Planck microspheres (three-dimensional “Star of David”, also called in the old tradition: Mer-Ka-Ba) due to the holofractal relationship in the energy structuring and therefore, information. Thus, the “Mer-Ka-Ba” or energy field around the physical body may well be the information integration structure of the human body’s experience and therefore, of its consciousness. This integrative structure could make it possible to exchange information between the macroscopic world (electromagnetic waves) and the microscopic world (structure of the vacuum on the scale of Planck in KMS state) including, therefore, the potentiality of psychic abilities (PSI).                Indeed, all the dense bodily information, stimuli of human experience and consciousness could be integrated at the energy field level, in subtle (non-local) connection to the vacuum structure (network of interconnected wormholes) thus allowing human evolution thanks to the interaction between the energy field and the DNA.               Within the framework of the unified space-memory network theory, there would exist a holographic and fractal correspondence between the information contained in all the visible universe (density of mass-energy) and a single proton (density of mass-energy on the Planck scale). This point closely resembles the holonomic perspective of the brain, which in the research of scientist Karl Pribram, has defined that human consciousness could resemble a hologram gathering and integrating information: the hologram could very well be represented by the energy field around the human body (Mer-Ka-Ba). A final fundamental point of Nassim Haramein’s unified space-memory field perspective concerns geometry (or cymatic), which could play a fundamental role in the exchange and integration of information and, by extend, consciousness.

A Scientific Revolution is Equivalent to A Profound Change in The Vision of The World

 The philosopher Thomas Kuhn looked closely at the structure of scientific revolutions (Kuhn, T.S., 2018). Indeed, science has always evolved in a game of tension between two or more paradigms (visions of the world or phenomena). A paradigm is therefore anchored in what could be called a “consensus” and a methodology. The mainstream methodology in today science amounts to observing phenomena, disconnected from the observer. We thus define “reality” as external and quantified observations anchored in a temporality and therefore, a causality. This allows us to have the illusion of control over the outside world. The entire current scientific system is based on those principles and therefore, a new vision or a slightly different angle of approach is quickly discredited because this leads to questioning our whole vision of the world and therefore, possibly leads to a change of civilization.

How is this change of paradigm and therefore, possibly of civilization possible?                  1. Through a new or better (more holistic) theoretical, mathematical, and psychophysical approach to understanding “reality”.                 2. By anomalies observed with standard or innovative scientific tools as well as, sometimes, a total reassessment of experimental procedures.                The main problem of a scientific revolution is that it necessarily leads to the rejection of one or more scientific theories or, in any case, to the profound questioning of these various theories. This has been done many times, for example, with the theory of heliocentrism from Galileo, who was persecuted because he called into question the predominant dogma of the time (the earth is the center of universe). A second example concerns the great physicist Albert Einstein, who proposed a mathematical and physical theory divergent from the scientific consensus of the time (Newton’s paradigm) by linking space to time while developing a continuum between matter and energy.                So-called “normal” science is always based on a retrospective vision including, therefore, all the past achievements that have made it possible to circumscribe a paradigm perceived by the scientific community as sufficient.                 Each school of thought is generally, because of its paradigmatic structure, put in competition with other schools of thought. This was the case when certain physicists-mathematicians (quantum physicists) proposed to Albert Einstein that interactions between particles could take place faster than the speed of light.               There is another principle rooted in “normal science”, obtaining a reproducible result. Indeed, the principles of reproducibility of the experiment as well as standardization generally consist in “avoiding statistical biases” by opting for large meta-analyses on a well-defined phenomenon (object of scientific research). This facilitates the task of scientists who will “cut” statistically through the data to, very often, remove anomalies. It is not a question here of knowing who is wrong or who is right but rather of understanding that the angle of analysis is a fundamental aspect of our construction and therefore, perception of scientific realism. Normal science is therefore generally a closed circle that will consider all scientific tools or competing theories as irrelevant because they come out of the so-called “normal” paradigmatic circle.               When a new paradigm emerges, it goes through various stages which are (1) a more or less large set of divergent theories of the dominant paradigm and (2) new tools or experimental angles which will make it possible to investigate the theoretical set. Thus, the “points of contact” or areas of convergence between theory and experimental results correspond to the keystone allowing to maintain, create or solidify the paradigm. The main issue in the process of scientific revolution is the fact that a very wide range of theoretical foundations is proposed before having results with a certain scientific reliability. Empirical work (experimental observational studies) makes it possible to build the paradigm by legitimizing or not, the theoretical basis. It is very important to take into consideration the anomalies which are, either analytical biases but also, sometimes, the anchor points for a scientific revolution. Very often, the dominant paradigm does not make it possible to highlight or even observe the anomalies because of the scientific paradigmatic axiology which will restrict the field of analysis, depending either on the use of experimental tools or the inability of those same tools to reveal the anomaly.                 In addition, in current times, most trained scientists base themselves on models and theories that come to them from their studies without looking elsewhere. Currently, there is a hierarchy of papers as well as researchers according to the scientific journals in which the various papers are published, which amounts to a certain monopoly of knowledge and therefore, to the maintenance and control of the dominant paradigm.               “Normal” science therefore aims to extend knowledge according to precise and often restrictive paradigmatic foundations. Thus, discovering novelties in theory and results is not a scientific priority (which is very paradoxical because the primary objective of science is to understand the living).               Another current problem in science is that of training very sharp experts in a scientific field, who have learned not to dare to interpret or study phenomena from the angle of interdisciplinarity. However, a scientific revolution is strongly rooted in interdisciplinarity because one or more anomalies can simply turn out to be understandable phenomena by widening the angle of analysis (interdisciplinarity).                 An anomaly, if it does not represent a statistical bias, is a phenomenon that cannot be grasped and understood within the framework of the scientific hypothesis and therefore, of the dominant paradigm. Thus, to call an anomaly, anomaly is to exhibit observational denial and therefore to be a “bad” scientist. The anomaly must be a fundamental element of any scientific investigation.                A scientific revolution represents a situation of “crisis” at the level of what makes a human being, a human being: beliefs. However, science should not restrict its field of experimentation according to its beliefs (and therefore, its paradigm). When anomalies appear, the work of the scientist is to ask the question of what these anomalies represent, sometimes putting aside his paradigm. Generally, a questioning of the paradigm passes through the confrontation between the paradigm and nature (natural laws). A lack of consistency between the two may suggest a paradigm shift. For example, in the context of Heisenberg’s quantum mechanics, the whole paradigm of theoretical physics suffered an earthquake, calling into question the “objective” and “material” reality.               We are currently living in the period of transition between two paradigms. This period is characterized by the overlap between problems solvable through normal science (materialist or epiphenomenalist) and problems solvable through holistic science (interdisciplinary, ecumenical). As with the revolution in general relativity, the Newtonian view is encompassed by a more general and holistic theory of the universe. Science is therefore evolving more integrative, revisiting and challenging the paradigmatic assumptions of normal science. It should be kept in mind that a scientific paradigm plays an important role in group cohesion and therefore in society (community), from which mistrust and sometimes attacks on the paradigm emerge. These attacks can even be of the order of dogma and no longer scientific facts when the dominant paradigm feels threatened. How to accelerate this transition?                  By targeting anomalies while isolating them as much as possible, with the greatest precision, it is possible to propose a theoretical structure and then investigate it experimentally (experimental protocol). We are therefore talking about predictions made based on new hypotheses. However, any prediction must subsequently be corroborated by experimental and observational studies.                 So, an emergent paradigm is built only when scientists choose to investigate anomalies, in the context of “extraordinary” research, extraordinary in the sense that the hypotheses are divergent from what normal science offers as well as certain tools or experimental protocols. Thus, by structuring the anomaly (the purpose of this article, NAMSCA project), we can shape the emergent (holistic in this case) paradigm. 

PSI Phenomena : Modulation of The Scientific Paradigm And Research Perspectives 

How to simply define a psychic phenomenon?   ” I would say that a PSI phenomenon represents a life situation where our concepts of space, time and therefore, causality are transcended (non-locality) and therefore, where one or more phenomena appear as anomalies within the framework of a linear conception of the parameters mentioned “                There are several names dedicated to several psychic phenomena, however I intend for the moment to remain as much as possible in scientific terminology because there are currently many stammerings as well as an amalgam of “new age” terms which could also constitute a certain drift from scientific axiology. I will therefore focus on a particular theme which is the psychophysical experience of the double slit.  Max Planck, in 1944, said: “There is no matter strictly speaking, the Spirit is the matrix of all matter”.   Doctor Stephan A. Schwartz has categorized two types of psychic phenomena (PSI) (Schwartz, S. A., (2015)) 1. Non-local perception  2. Non-local disturbance

               Non-local perception (1) concerns the acquisition of information that could not be obtained through the usual six senses. Non-local disturbance (2) represents the action of consciousness on matter, including therapeutic healing by intention or at a distance.                 Currently, there are six protocols in parapsychology that have reached the statistical threshold of sigma 6 (1 in 1 billion that the results are due to chance) in double or triple blind, randomized experimental protocols (Radin, D., 2018).               We will first look at the psychophysical experience of the double slit (double slit express) representing the first anomaly which, at first, called into question all modern physics and, by extension, could call into question all reality around the phenomenon of consciousness. Indeed, if consciousness is only a simple epiphenomenon of the brain, it is impossible to obtain statistically valid results within the framework of this psychophysical experiment.               What does the double slit experiment represent? Photons are “particles of light” that are mostly in the form of waves. A photon has no mass and therefore, it is mostly non-local and spreads out in the form of waves in space. An anomaly appeared when it was noticed that the photons react to the measuring device trying to determine which slit the photon passed through. If no measuring device tries to determine which slit the photon passes through, it remains as a wave, passing through both slits at the same time and forming an interference pattern on the receiving screen.                The psychophysical double-slit experiment involves asking participants to focus on the path that photons will take when passing through the double-slit plate. The significant results indicate that when participants focus on the precise possible path that the photons will take, the interference patterns on the screen disappear (statistically significant effect size 0.73, p = 2.4*10-7) for giving way to the “corpuscular” version of the photon and therefore, indicating that the photon took a precise path in one or the other slit through the mental intention of the participants. Participants located at a distance 18 ‘000 kilometers from the laboratory have made it possible to observe the same phenomenon, which indicates the potential non-locality of the phenomenon (Bear, W., (2015)).               Interestingly, in the data verification report by physicists, they specifically marked that such an effect lacked “direct correlations” to definitively conclude the psychophysical interaction due to electromagnetic influences. They indicate that direct correlations can only be obtained through an EEG / fMRI protocol with a total electromagnetic isolation system (Faraday cage). This will be the experimental project proposed in the following chapter. Indeed, the objective of the NAMSCA project which represents an extension of ERP (event-related potential) experiments around the EPR (Einstein-Podolsky Rosen) paradox or quantum entanglement is a generalization of the psychophysical double-slit experiment to dual neuroscience and non-local contact between individuals.  We will now look at the six Psychic Phenomena Protocols (PSI) currently being studied that have achieved significant results.   1. Remote Viewing 2. The “Ganzfeld” (also called “telepathy”) 3. The Foreboding 4. Implicit Precognition or Retrocognition 5. The Random Number Generators (RNG) Experiment 6. The Global Consciousness Project

Non-Local Perception

                Remote viewing (1) relates to gathering information that cannot be gathered through the six physiological senses. This psychic phenomenon (PSI) concerns the remote vision of a very precise situation, and therefore, the description of the scene in question.                 Telepathy (or “ganzfeld”) (2) concerns “telepathic impressions” between two subjects at a distance, one of the two subjects at least is in a place of “sensory deprivation” to reduce interference.                The presentiment (3) investigates the psychophysical response that appears before visual or sound stimulation (image on the screen or sound noise).                 Retrocognition & precognition (4) concerns the influence of future events on present behavior.

Non-Local Perturbation

                The random number generator experiment (5) represents the fact that an individual’s intention can influence the performance of a physical system that generates random numbers.                 The Global Consciousness Project (6) represents an extension of the random number generator experiment to the entire population (meta-analysis) or large groups.                 The influence of intention on human physiology has not yet obtained highly significant results. It is with this objective that the NAMSCA project was developed, which would represent a seventh (7) psychic phenomenon (PSI) to be investigated, which is the large-scale non-local contact (interbrain connectivity network) between two brains. Thus, part of the NAMSCA project will investigate phenomena of the type: non-local “disturbance” or more accurately, non-local resonance.    

 Paradigmatic Shift in Consciousness Research: The NAMSCA Project 

The NAMSCA project (Neurophysiological Aspects of Modified States of Consciousness and Awareness) was initiated in 2020 with the aim of pursuing several experiments in cognitive neuroscience around two themes major ones: non-local contact and out-of-body experiences.                 As we have seen throughout the introduction, consciousness is a mystery in the philosophical world but also for neuroscientists who largely direct their research around two approaches:  the positivist and atomist approach (1) and  functionalism which encompasses computationalism incorporating the idea that if the program is complex enough in its capacities to integrate information, consciousness emerges (2). The NAMSCA project starts from a diametrically opposed philosophical and paradigmatic axis by proposing that the basis for the transmission of information and therefore for consciousness to occur is at a quantum level through electromagnetic waves, electromagnetic fields as well as quantum fields. To prove this, it is necessary to start from significant results which have been carried out in recent years and which suggest that this theoretical approach is valid.                First, it is essential to understand that so-called large-scale brain dynamics (generally encompassing parts (brain areas) that interact with each other but are in different distant places in the brain) include coherence phenomena that support a higher level of consciousness compared to populations of people with a reduced state of consciousness (near-coma state, for instance) (Demertzi et al., 2019). The results suggest that the patterns of electromagnetic coherence in the brain are essential for allowing consciousness to manifest and that the phenomenon of consciousness is not restricted to neuroanatomical constraints. The main objective of the NAMSCA project is to corroborate various theories all revolving around the wave characteristics of electromagnetism in the brain such as the principles of coherence, resonance (or synchrony) but also quantum entanglement phenomena. From an experimental perspective, it is possible to precisely target how and when these phenomena appear in the brain thanks to innovative cognitive neuroscience tools such as “connectivity networks” or cerebral connection networks as well as the dual neuroscience design approach. This new approach in neuroscience consists of using two electroencephalograms simultaneously with two distinct participants and therefore being able to analyze, subsequently, whether there is any cerebral synchronization between the two brains. Two major phenomena will be under the magnifying glass during the deployment of the NAMSCA project. The first phenomenon is called the Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen (EPR) paradox in the brain, which underlies the possibility of the emergence of a form of quantum entanglement between the electromagnetic fields of the two brains during remote contact. The underlying psychophysical principle could be quantum coherence between the two electromagnetic fields which would overlap at the quantum level, thus allowing an exchange of information and therefore, remote contact. This phenomenon can be revealed by means of what is called quantitative encephalography followed by the extrapolation of topological indices which make it possible to represent the correlations or causal links between two topological networks specific to the patterns of two distinct brains. These indices are named, respectively, the partial directed coherence (PDC) and the phase synchronization (PLV = phase locking value) (Santamaria et al., 2020). More precise explanations of these different indices will be presented later. There is also another related tool in neuroscience research which is called transferred potentials which represent evoked potentials, but which are transferred from one brain to another and therefore renamed: transferred potentials (Grinberg-Zylberbaum and al., 1994).               The second scientific interest of the NAMSCA project concerns the phenomena of autoscopy or decorporation. It is possible to consider these scientific phenomena thanks to non-invasive protocols such as repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS). The main objective is to understand how a specific brain area, the temporoparietal junction (TPJ) (highlighted by EPFL researchers) impacts the perception of physicality. The main hypothesis of the eminent researchers is to define the temporo-parietal junctions as zones of convergence and strong integration of information. This hypothesis is, in my opinion, very reductive and above all, localizationist. An alternative hypothesis would be that stimulating or disrupting the input/output signals at the level of the two TPJs would impact a larger network of neurons which would then modify the perception of corporality. This hypothesis exists and has already been partially put forward in an experiment, in the context of the BIAL biomedicine foundation. The researchers noticed that a change in the perception of one’s body correlates with what is called cerebral desynchronization. More precisely, the fact of locally disturbing the TPJ would impact the brain more widely by creating a form of medio-central desynchronization along the central sulcus. By analogy, such a phenomenon could be likened to a near-death short experience and propel consciousness, for a short time, outside the physical body (Daltrozzo et al., 2016).               The ultimate goal of such a project is to suggest a holistic and integrative theory of consciousness resonating with some existing approaches such as the CEMI theory of electromagnetic information fields underlying the phenomenon of consciousness (McFadden, 2020), the general theory of coherence and resonance (Hunt & Schooler, 2019) as well as the holonomic theory of the brain (Pribram, K. H., 2011). The theory integrates the principle that consciousness implements algorithms in space rather than in time (McFadden, 2020) and the holonomic approach, defining a system of representation of information by unconstrained Fourier coordinates (information processing in space). To move forward step by step, we will begin by making an inventory of the field of research that interests us, namely: consciousness and altered states of consciousness.                The theme of consciousness is one of the greatest mysteries in the history of humanity. When we talk about altered states of consciousness, we usually think of hallucinations caused by taking psychoactive substances. However, there are other categories of altered states of consciousness known for eons such as, for example, shamanic trance or out-of-body experiences (known under the term “astral travelling”).                In scientific circles, shamanic trance states are better known as cognitive trance or states of absorption. At the neurophysiological level, certain elements correlate with the states of absorption such as a right hemispheric dominance (Krippner & Combs, 2002), an increase in the theta power spectrum (power spectrum) (Jacob, 2015) as well as a phenomenon of synchronization between the right and left frontal lobes coupled with progressive frontal hypoactivation in deep trance states (Lehmann et al., 2001). However, the phenomenon of right hemispheric activation is found in several other altered states of consciousness such as depersonalization & derealization, autoscopy, decorporation experiences as well as deep meditative states of self-dissolution (Lehmann et al., 2001).                Currently, the lack of scientific investigation concerns what is called psychic phenomena (PSI) which can be defined as: a condition during which a visible and clear impact appears from one brain (the psychic) to another brain, to wave phenomena. or matter, integrating the spectrum of non-local disturbance phenomenology.                Based on the theoretical ground, several research angles must be defined and differentiated at first. The first axis concerns what physicists call: the Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen (EPR) paradox which more generally represents a phenomenon of entanglement between one or more photons reacting with each other at a higher speed than the speed of light. The conclusion of the three physicists was that there must be hidden variables to the phenomenon to restore causality. Thus, we can speak of a phenomenon of quantum entanglement. This phenomenon has been studied in the human brain and therefore between several brains by means of what are called “transferred potentials”. These transferred potentials (from brain 1 to brain 2) represent electrical potentials (ERPs) which have a correlation beyond chance with the evoked potentials in brain 1 (lightning stimuli). With the goal to understand if this phenomenon is indeed a phenomenon of quantum entanglement between the electromagnetic fields of the two brains of the two subjects, a Faraday cage is elementary (electromagnetic isolation and therefore, clear separation between the two subjects).               In the current state of the art around consciousness research, it has been shown that conscious occurrences are not restricted to what can be called neuroanatomical constraints or neural networks (neural clusters, modules, etc.). On the contrary, consciousness is underpinned by what are called neural coalitions integrating a system of coherent exchange of electrical signals which form a general state of integration by means of complex dynamics on a large scale (Demertzi et al., 2019) (thus including the brain in full) and therefore, the underlying assumption that conscious phenomena are turned towards what are called electromagnetic waves or fields.                 This last point leads us to pose the main scientific hypothesis: the possibility of neuronal communication and therefore, of the emergence of a conscious waking state through the principles of coherence and resonance between signals and electromagnetic fields. This hypothesis aligned with the CEMI field theory of consciousness suggesting a space-based processing algorithmic structure for consciousness (cymatics and holographic).                By extension, when the phenomenon of neuronal synchronization operates between two individuals (brains) separated by a Faraday cage, the scientific hypothesis can be extended and integrate the possibility of a phenomenon of quantum coherence (quantum entanglement or EPR paradox) between the electromagnetic fields.                 Hypothetically, it will be proposed that electromagnetic fields can play an integrative role for information processing through resonance (synchronization) and a role of holographic storage of information through interference between different waves (phase spaces or of Hilbert).                To summarize, the psychophysical phenomena around electromagnetic waves such as coherence, resonance, interference, and quantum entanglement could constitute the foundations of what is called consciousness occurrences.                To lay a solid foundation around these psychophysical phenomena, it should be remembered that quantum entanglement in macroscopic systems (molecular or even tissue) are known in the world of biology (Vedral., 2008).               At a more physical level, the principles of coherence and interference are inherent in electromagnetism. Moreover, quantum coherence seems to be a prerequisite for quantum entanglement. It is therefore possible to infer a quantum coherence phenomenon when a quantum entanglement process is observable. Thus, experiments 1 and 2 of the NAMSCA project will be used to collect evidence around this phenomenon of quantum entanglement during a remote contact procedure.                Regarding the phenomena of autoscopy or decorporation, the currently common scientific vision points the finger at what is called the temporoparietal junctions (TPJs), more specifically in the right cerebral hemisphere (rTPJ. Neuroscientists who studied this region speak of a neural hub that transmits multisensory information related to corporeality and thus allowing the brain to form a coherent sense of perception of the physical body (Blanke et al., 2002).               When we speak of altered perception of the physical body (altered body perception (ABP)) which mainly includes two main axes such as the phenomena of autoscopy as well as decorporation, it is essential to go through phenomenological investigation, through the means of qualitative survey during stimulation or inhibition of the temporo-parietal zones. The current state of research indicates a controversial state around the phenomena of altering the perception of the body. First, the scientific focus has been mainly around the temporoparietal junction in the right hemisphere. However, studies have shown that the left temporoparietal junction seems to be particularly involved in decorporation (Bos et al., 2016). In addition, many other areas seem to be involved, in one way or another, in the corporeality such as the medio-occipito-parietal junction, the occipital cortex, the precuneus as well as the thalamus and the thalamo-occipital radiations (Kjaer et al., 2002). We can therefore understand that it is a large functional network underlying Self-awareness. It is important to take into consideration the fact that the activation of this functional network never leads to decorporation but only to the phenomena of autoscopy (or distortions of the perception of the body without drastic changes such as the 180° reversal proper at body exit).               Thus, an alternative hypothesis would be the fact that a phenomenon not of activation and therefore of possible hallucination but of a deactivation and cerebral desynchronization in a chain along the predefined functional network, could potentially lead to full OBE.               The current state of research suggests that there is a correlation between the decrease in EEG power grouping all brain frequency bands and the phenomena of altered body perception (Daltrozzo et al., 2016). One of the reasons that led to a hallucinatory-type interpretation of decorporation is the pronounced focus on a very small part of the brain (temporoparital junction) and not the global dynamic aspects following the inhibition or stimulation of the temporo-parietal junctions.                In the current project, the experimental focus is based on the hypothesis of cerebral desynchronization which will be tested during the inhibition of the two temporoparietal junctions. Thus, the power spectrum analysis during the repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) experiment will make it possible to define the correlations between the phenomenological aspect (felt/subjective experience) and the hypothesis of cerebral desynchronization which is found in near-death experiences involving a phenomenon of decorporation. This approach will make it possible to understand how consciousness and altered states of consciousness could be linked to patterns of coherence and synchronization at the level of functional networks in the brain.               To test the hypothesis presented here of cerebral desynchronization, the neuroscientific tool is called transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS). In this specific case, the experiment will favor the inhibition of the two temporoparietal junctions because of a previous study during which this inhibition triggered a temporo-medial desynchronization effect phenomenologically correlated with an ABP.                 The keystone between the two experiences is the vision of the brain as a transmitter / receiver of consciousness using as a tool to analyze consciousness in the physical body the patterns of coherence and brain resonance on a large scale and therefore, the cerebral functional desynchronization in breaking these patterns could allow an expansion of consciousness beyond the physical body.

Objectives, Experimental Protocols and Scientific Methods

               The two main objectives of the NAMSCA project are firstly to (1) investigate how quantum entanglement between two brains manifests and, secondly (2) to explore the causal relationship between large-scale brain dynamics or the hypothesis of functional cerebral desynchronization and abnormal body perceptions (ABP), including OBE (out-of-body experience). The two populations used in the experiments related to objective 1 will be a lambda population, a population of psychics (PSI practitioners) as well as a population of twins or people living in very close intimate proximity including many synchronicities. Regarding neuroscientific tools, a quantitative electroencephalography procedure (quantitative EEG) coupled with a dual experimental design will be favored to define to what extent the EPR paradox appears between two electromagnetic fields of two brains. Indeed, techniques such as phase synchronization or partially directed coherence (PDC) (Baccala & Sameshima, 2001), offer a way to understand how the cerebral patterns of the psychics (PSI practitioners) affect the patient brain patterns at a distance using Granger causality or, by simply studying the spectral coherence between the two brains or cerebral areas.               In the scientific design, the need for a Faraday cage is elementary to isolate the PSI practitioner from the patient and therefore, the two brains. In this specific case, a pattern of causality or coherence between the two brains will necessarily be at the quantum level. This would legitimize the possibility of an impact from one brain to another.               About the second experimental objective, the investigation turns to what are called abnormal perceptions of the body, grouping together the phenomena of autoscopy and out-of-body experience. The hypothesis of cerebral desynchronization (power spectral analyses) will be favored because of the latest studies on the subject. From a purely experimental point of view, the aim will be to observe how the simultaneous inhibition of both temporoparietal junctions will affect the neural dynamics on a large scale (whole brain) as well as the phenomenological aspect of consciousness and the perception of physical body in space (qualitative survey). To do this, a protocol of transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) coupled with a quantitative EEG will make it possible to observe whether the drop in frequency power bringing together the entire spectrum of cerebral frequencies in the two cerebral hemispheres simultaneously effectively leads to a prominent state of modification of the perception of the body such as decorporation (180° reversal of perception of the physical body by projection of consciousness outside the physical body). The goal is to provide experimental evidence supporting the hypothesis that the characteristics of electromagnetic brain waves (resonance, synchrony, entanglement and quantum coherence) support waking consciousness in humans. Indeed, if a desynchronization of a large network of neurons disturbs the perception and localization of one’s own body, we can highlight the assumption of a receiver-transmitter operation of consciousness through the human brain. This would therefore contradict the materialist and epiphenomenalist paradigm of consciousness.

Conclusion

 

The paradigm shift in consciousness is a laborious process. However, to move forward on this path, it is essential to put aside our biases such as the old (or alternative/archaic medicine) and the new (or modern medicine).  In the case of Albert Einstein, if we had categorized the theory of general relativity as fantastical, imaginary and resulting from some form of magic or science fiction, we would have missed a step in the evolution of humanity. We are currently at a crossroads of paramount importance regarding psychic phenomena (PSI) and consciousness. It is no longer a question of walking blind in religious dogmas or beliefs.                The main objective is to link the ancient science that has been maintained in Eastern countries, particularly in India and Tibet, with modern Western science including observational and experimental techniques from the positivist current.                 It is therefore important to remember that it is fully possible to bridge the two ways of understanding the world by putting the techniques of hard science at the service of a new paradigm on the phenomena of consciousness by including the phenomena psychic (PSI). An integral philosophy on consciousness highlighting revolutionary currents such as biocentrism or the holonomic vision of the brain while coupling it with experimental protocols in cognitive neurosciences, will lead to experimental and statistical results.               It might currently be possible to combine science and “spirituality” by the innovative means provided by cognitive neurosciences such as dual electroencephalography. Indeed, this approach will make it possible to precisely measure the intercerebral correlation patterns between two or more brains. Thus, if the experimental protocol is well developed with an electromagnetic isolation cage, it would be possible to better understand what can be called a quantum resonance connection between human beings and therefore, to legitimize the possibility of remote contact and afterwards, maybe extending the research endeavor to remote healing that it would also be appropriate to measure in the near future by the means of modern medicine (physiological or anatomical indices) while starting from a different basic paradigm depending on experimental outcomes.                 Finally, the extension of the quantum paradigm of consciousness will considerably open the field of experimental investigation around many PSI phenomena. The main objective of these experimental investigations is to allow a global and general opening on consciousness and its quantum aspect to understand more precisely the PSI ​​phenomena.
